Deaths

Carroll Mrs. Margaret (Peg) Carroll, Bellefield (née Maher, Ballyhogue), who has died at the age of 94, was one of the very oldest residents in the area, having lived there since 1944.

She was wife of former well known builder Owen, who predeceased her by thirty-two years, as did a son, Joseph, while another son, Donal died eleven years ago.

She is survived by sons Pat, Cork, Aidan, Milehouse Road, Michael, France, and Eugene, Australia, and daughters Bridie, Birmingham, and other relatives. —R.I.P.

Jordan The death took place last week of John Jordan, 7 Moran Park, and formerly St. Aidan’s Villas, youngest in a family of four and who was in his 63rd year.

A great Liverpool supporter, the club’s anthem ‘You’ll never walk alone’ was played at the graveside at interment on Monday.

Sympathy is extended to his wife, Caroline, son, Jonathan and daughter, Andrea, mother-in-law, relatives and friends. —R.I.P.

Kelly The death has taken place in Pontefract, Wales, of John Kelly (64), formerly of Enniscorthy, who emigrated over forty years ago.

Fourth in the family of the late Jack and Elsie, he worked in the nursing profession.

He is survived by his wife, Miriam, originally from Kerry, and son, Peter and daughters, Ruth and Sarah, and also by brothers, Watty, Parklands, Hugo, Moran Park, Thomas, Oxford, and Martin, Somerset, and sisters, Kathleen, USA, and Mary, Greenville Court, and other relatives. R.I.P.

And finally...

He doesn’t look a day over 60, but the birth cert cannot lie.

Popular local man about town Michael O’Brien, Andy Doyle Close, was victim of a surprise birthday bash at his local Dawson’s, Duffry Hill, at the weekend, with wife, Angela, family members and many friends turning out in force to toast his 70th.

A member of a well-known local family, he is son of the late Joe and Judy, St. Aidan’s Villas his father had the distinction of being the very first winning captain (JF 1924) of famed Starlights club.

Michael is keenly interested in local history, notably his own family tree, and is regarded by one and all as a loyal friend.

Congrats, Michael, and looking forward to many more years of friendship and banter!
