€200,000 raised to date at Curracloe Barn Dance
WITH MUSIC, good food and almost everyone in fancy dress, the 6th Annual Barn Dance at Cloney Farm, Curracloe, was a great success on Saturday night over 1,200 in attendance.
To date, the barn dances have raised over €200,000 for local charities. This year’s benefiting charities are Wexford MS and Cottage Autism.
Mexicans, cowboys and cowgirls were greeted on the night by horse and riders in full costume.
The night started off with a barbecue, while local band Theresa and the Stars kicked of the night’s entertainment playing all the country favourites that got people out on the dance floor.
Wexford School of Dance put on a dance display followed by Sharon and Vicky Clancy who sang all the big Diva numbers, Wexford 10-piece Samba Drum Band and three authentic Brazillian Samba Dances put of a show that caught everyone’s attention.
Hank Wedel took to the stage with his six-piece Rock and Roll band anyone that was left sitting had to get up and dance to their amazing sound before DJ John Furlong played till the last cowboy was standing.
1,200 People attended this year’s event making one of the most successful in years. Michael Cloney’s Farm was completely painted with western scenes.
Plans have already begun for next year event which will be held on the 23th July 2011.
