Eileen Aroon Festival
Bunclody Annual Eileen Aroon Festival gets underway tonight Wednesday July 21st with a Wine Tasting Evening in Bia Álainn at 8.30 p.m.
Admission €10. Proceeds in aid of Bunclody Swimming Pool.
The Pub Talent Competition kicks off in The Moss House on Friday July 23rd and continues in Kehoe’s on Friday July 30th; Redmond’s on Saturday July 31st; The Mall on Thursday August 5th and the final night in Lennon’s on Tuesday August 10th followed by presentation of prizes to award winners.
The Annual Dog Show, sponsored by Conley’s Red Mills takes place in the grounds of Bunclody Swimming Pool on Saturday July 24th at 2.30 p.m. Contact 086-0829782 for details.
The ever popular Annual Pub Quiz starts on Monday July 26th in The Mall, Sinnott’s and The Millrace Hotel and continues Monday August 2nd in Bia Álainn, Kehoe’s and Tig Leath Slí with the 3rd round in ‘O’Connor’s, Redmond’s and Lennon’s on Wednesday August 4th. The Pub Quiz Final will take place on Friday August 6th.
Bunclody / Kilmyshall
Drama Group will present Pub Theatre in Redmond’s on Thursday July 22nd and Tuesday July 27th, starting at 9.30 p.m. and on Sunday August 1st at 10.30p.m. with the last performance on Tuesday August 3rd. Admission €7. Concessions €5.
There is a Céilí Mór in M2 on Wednesday July 28th featuring traditional music, singing and set dancing commencing at 9.30 p.m.
The Festival Queen Gala Night will take place in The Millrace Hotel on Thursday July 29th with music and dancing.
All are invited to see the young ladies and their escorts interviewed and perhaps do a ‘party piece’. The winner will be announced at Market Sq. on Sunday August 1st at 10.15 p.m. approx.
Bunclody Library will host a Singing & Drumming Workshop for youngsters aged 4 to 12 years on Friday July 30th.

The annual Kids’ Day and Disco will take place at the Swimming Pool Complex (weather permitting, if not in M2) on Saturday August 31st with Seamus Long. Admission is €3.
On street entertainment starts on Saturday July 31st with music from The Heartbeats at Market Sq. from 8.30 to 10.30 p.m.
4 Man Trio and other local acts will take to the stage from 3.00 p.m. on Sunday August 1st with the Davitt Showband taking to the stage at 8.30 p.m. followed by the most popular Fireworks’ Display.
On Monday August 2nd Footloose Dance School will give a display followed by local ‘Bunclody Rocks’ bands.
The Car Treasure Hunt, sponsored by Topaz Service Station takes place on Sunday August 1st with start times from 5.30 to 7.00 p.m. from Topaz.
The Duck Race and the 5-ASide Street Tug O War takes place at Market Sq. from 5.30 p.m.
Bunclody’s Got More Talent, a talent show open to singers, dancers, bands and entertainers of all genres from youngsters to young adult. Enquiries to Levin 087-9982223 or Trish 0857397975.
Bunclody Lions’ Club will hold a Country & Western Hoe Down and Bar-B-Q in The Mall on Friday August 5th. Admission €25 including food. Proceeds in aid of Bunclody Lions’ Club.
Bunclody AFC are holding a fundraiser with Jon Kenny in Concert in M2 on Saturday August 7th.
Tickets at €20 are available from Bunclody Soccer Club, The Mall and M2.

Harley Davidson Visit
The Gaelic Chapter Ireland of the Harley Davidson Club will bring their bikes on a visit to Bunclody on Sunday August 1st to visit the Eileen Aroon Festival at 3.00 p.m. approx.
The Harley Owners’ Group (HOG) based in Dublin, will bring a number of bikes down on the day, so be prepared for a show of chrome and a little noise as part of their arrival.
This will be a great opportunity for Harley lovers to see their bikes up close and personal, an opportunity not to be missed!
Bunclody/Kilmyshall Drama Group
Bunclody/Kilmyshall Drama Group are performing a summer play during July and August.
The play is called ‘Lovers Losers’ by Brian Friel, and is a hilarious comedy. It is a one-act play, about a pair of middle-aged lovers dealing with a demanding bedridden mother, who would stop at nothing to frustrate their amorous intentions.
The stars of our cast will be known to most folk in the area, and have worked hard to get this play ready for the summer.
Come along and see them in Redmond’s Lounge, Bunclody on the following dates: July 15th, 20th, 22nd and 27th, starting at 9.30 p.m. and on the August 1st at 10.30p.m. with the last performance on August 3rd.
It is a really funny play, and what better way to relax than sit back, have a drink with friends, and be entertained for an hour. Come along and enjoy the Craic. Admission is only €7 per adult and €5 for concessions.
Both Bia Álainn Restaurant and Lady Lucy’s at The Millrace will offer a pre-theatre dinner and ticket to the show for €26.00. Contact the restaurant of your choice to make a reservation.

Golf Classic
Kilmyshall Hall Committee is holding a Golf Classic in aid of the Hall Restoration Fund, in Bunclody Golf and Fishing Club on Thursday July 29th 2010.

International Year of Biodiversity
To celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity there is an interesting series of talks on gardening taking place throughout the year in Bunclody Library.
Upcoming events in the series include: Planning your garden for easy maintenance on Thursday September 23rd at 7.00 p.m.
Due to popular demand, Bunclody Library plan to organise a talk specifically on vegetable growing later on in the year. All are welcome to these free events.

Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Teddy Bears’ Picnic in Space is the title of Toddlers’ Storytime today Wednesday July 21st at 4.00 p.m. All are welcome to toddler story-time and bring you are invited to take your favourite teddy along.
G.A.A. Lotto
There was no Jackpot winner of last week’s Half-Way-House / Bunclody G.A.A. Club Lotto draw. The numbers drawn were 3, 7, 19 and 26. Six ‘match 3’ winners each receive €17.
They were: Mary Walsh; John and Úna O’Grady; Roisín Kelly; Luz Kelly; Liz Kelly and John Paul Connors. The next draw will take place in Tig Leath Slí, Halfway House, Bunclody, on Monday July 26th when the Jackpot will be €5,100.
Learn Online At Bunclody Library
Wexford Library Service and FÁS are collaborating to offer online courses free of charge for those who would like to improve their computer and administrative skills.
A range of courses are on offer in Bunclody Library including ECDL, Microsoft Word and Excel and finance fundamentals. Drop into the library to register or contact Bunclody Library at 053-9375466 for details.
Usual Library attractions
Storytime for under 7s continues in Bunclody Library on Wednesdays at 4.00p.m.
Children are invited to have fun colouring and listening to popular children’s stories and rhymes.
The Senior Chess Club meets Thursdays from 6.30p.m. onwards until 9.00p.m. and the Junior Chess Club meets Fridays from 3.00p.m. For ages 814. All welcome.
There are Reading Groups for adults and children. Contact library for details. All are welcome to these free events.

Bunclody Adult Learning Centre
Bunclody Adult Learning Centre is now recruiting participants for September 2010. If you are over 21 and in receipt of a Social Welfare payment for at least 6 months then you may qualify for a place on the course.

Kilmyshall Field Day
Kilmyshall field day Sunday 25th July, commencing at 01:30p.m. Usual attractions: dog show, bottle stall, wheel of fortune, Jimmy and the mouse, Brick-a-brack, cake stall, childrens camogie match, children’s athletics etc.

Soccerscene
BUNCLODY LOST one of its finest gentlemen last week with the sad passing of Ronnie Moorhead of Irish Street.
His legacy will live on in the memories of the people who knew him well for a long number of years.
He served on our committee for many years. He has always been a friend to the club since and all our members would like to pass on our condolences to the family.
Ronnie’s grandsons now play with the club. As a mark of respect we moved the trials for u8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 boys and girls from Saturday 17th to Saturday 24th July. They will commence from 2 to 5 p.m on Church Road.
We also moved the race night from 17th July to Saturday 24th July.
It will take place in the hotel starting at 9 p.m. It should be a good craic so please come along and enjoy yourself.
The Summer Camp starts on August 9th and there are still some places left, so if your child wishes to be part of it, book them in with Gertrude on 087-6847698. It’s the same number if you want to book in a birthday party.
The Lotto draw was held in Redmond’s on Sunday night. There was no jackpot winner.
Three people matched three numbers and received €34 each. Jimmy Dwyer, c/o Theresa Byrne; Josie Kearney, St. Mary’s Villas and Tommy Finn, c/o Majella Finn. The attendance draw was won by Kathleen Walkin and Cora-Ann Cowman.
The next draw will be held in O’Connor’s pub and the jackpot will be €10,400.
