Soccer scene

ANOTHER GREAT weekend for the club on the playing fields as the senior ladies, the men’s ‘B’ team and ‘A’ team have big wins.

The senior ladies’ team came from a goal down to hammer St. Joseph’s by 7-1.

An inspirational half-time talk from manager, Martin Byrne, saw Bunclody pull away with goals by Grace Fanning (2), Elaine Doyle (2), Elaine Casey (1), Helen Hopkins (1) and one from the boot of lethal striker, Celine Slye.

The Men’s ‘B’ team beat Wexford Celtic ‘B’ by 5-0 in the last 16 of the Billy Brown Cup. Sean Carton now hopes for a kind draw in the quarter finals.

The scores were David Reck (1), John Ryan (1). Severin Godzina (1) and Marek Wychek (2).

The men’s ‘A’ team were away to Anchor Utd in the last 32 of the Neil O’Sullivan cup and they romped home by 9-0. Rory O’Brien got 3 to bring his tally to 15 for the season, Ross Nolan got 3 to make it 11 for the season so far. Johnny Flynn O’Connor got 2 and Keith O’Hara got 1.

The Neil O’Sullivan Cup is for teams in Divisions 1, 2 and 2A. Bunclody have never won this Cup and we await the draw on Monday next.

We are now in the last 16. Next Sunday the ‘A’ team are away to all Blacks ‘B’, this time in the Wexford Cup and if Bunclody win will put them in the last 32.

The last South East Draw is on Friday, 19th February and the winner of the last draw took the €13,000 instead of the car.

Lastly, we would like to pass on our condolences to the McGrath family on the passing of Mrs. McGrath of Church Road.
