Pupils from St. Ibar’s National school, Clohamon held a non uniform day in December and raised €70 for Bóthar. The money was used to purchase a share of hens and rabbits. Congratulations to Past Pupil Katie Murphy, Brady’s Cross who won an All Ireland award for her Junior Cert Engineering Project. Pupils, staff and parents extend a warm welcome back to Nuala Ryan who has rejoined the staff as an SNA.

Bunclody Storytelling resumes for 2012 on this Thursday January 26th at 8.00 p.m. Andy and Kitty are hoping to see all their old friends there in St. Aidan’s Hall, Bunclody for a night of great music, stories and song.

F.C.J. Enrolment

The F.C.J. Secondary School, Bunclody Enrolment Night For Parents Only will take place on Wednesday January 18th at 8:00pm in the FCJ School Gym. Parents must have Student PPS Nos. at this meeting. Parents should attend this meeting without the prospective student. An information Night for Parents and Students will be held on Thursday, January 26th. Attendance on both nights is required for successful application to attend the school.

A lively discussion took place on the forthcoming Wexford County Convention and a vote was taken to decide who the Club will support at Convention. The meeting concluded with a minute’s silence for departed members and supporters who were bereaved over the past 12 months. Half-Way-House / Bunclody G.A.A. Club supporters are asked to note that the Club’s annual Dinner Dance will be held in the Carlton Millrace Hotel on Friday February 24th 2012.

Get to know James Joyce this Christmas at Bunclody Library! This Christmas at Bunclody Library we are inviting our borrowers to read one of Joyce’s short stories “The Dead”. This short story was first published in 1907 and tells the story of a married couple who attend an annual Christmas-season party at the home of two elderly aunts, an evening which ends in an epiphany for the married couple. On Thursday the 15th of December at 7pm, we will be showing the acclaimed film adaptation of Joyce’s short story. This film directed in 1987 by John Houston and starring his daughter Angelica and Donal McCann was nominated for an Academy Award (for Writing Adapted Screenplay) so it will be a treat for all Joyce fans. The following week on Thursday the 22nd of December, multi-award-winning, acclaimed author Claire Keegan will lead a discussion on both Joyce’s text and Houston’s film adaptation. Come along and share your views on the text, the film and Joyce in general! Join us for this wonderful two part opportunity to experience the work of James Joyce as you may never have before. FCJ 150th Anniversary

Bishop Denis Brennan celebrated a special Mass in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody on Saturday November 19th to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the F.C.J. Sisters in Bunclody. The Bishop was assisted by Canon SS de Val, V. Rev. A.G. Jones P.P., Bunclody and Rev Ignacio Mikalonis IVE, Kilmyshall. More than a dozen F.C.J. Sisters, including the Provincial Leader Sr. Margarita Byron fcJ, joined with the Parish in the celebration. Readings were given by FCJ Sisters, and bidding prayers were read and gifts brought up by present and past pupils. The Parish Choir sang for the Mass. Following the Mass, Bishop Brennan unveiled a brass plaque commemorating the occasion. A reception, hosted by the Parish Council, was held in the Pastoral Centre after the Mass which gave everyone a chance to renew acquaintances and enjoy refreshments.

Sopranos in Concert

Sopranos Clare Kavanagh and Bridget Nolan will be the main attraction at a concert in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody on Sunday November 27th at 8.00 p.m. which will also feature Guest Artists. Tickets at 10 each are available from Parish Council members, the Parish Office and Bunclody Post Office. A great evening’s entertainment is promised and your support will be very much appreciated.
